One of the most disheartening and frustrating experiences for Housesitters is to send off a carefully prepared response to an Opportunity and never receive any reply. Owners, please remember that sitters pay to be able to contact you and are entitled to a reply. So please reply to all responses – even if it is only to say "thanks, but no thanks". Owners will usually make a
shortlist of likely sitters, then contact them for more information. This may be
by email, or by phone, if a number has been given. But remember, until you give
your private contact details to somebody else they remain just
that – private. A face-to-face meeting between owner and sitter is ideal, but may not always be possible. If it can be arranged, it is a good opportunity for owner and sitter to get to know each other. It also provides a chance for the sitter to meet any animals that are to be looked after and to be briefed on the property. However, such a meeting is not absolutely essential. Once an agreement has been made, it should be confirmed in writing by both parties. This may also be an appropriate time to exchange a formal agreement, such as the one you can download from this website. Even if all details cannot be completed at this stage, it still has all the key aspects of the agreement and provides protection for owner and sitter alike. To download click here |
